Day 13 - The Building Inspector...

Another busy day for the builders today. The tiles continue to be fitted, and are looking very good. A few more on the back, and loads on the front.

We've confirmed the rear windows so these can be ordered - they're going to match the rest of the windows on the house as closely as possible so that they don't look out of place. We've also decided what lights we're having.

I ventured up the outside ladder for the first time today. The inside of the loft is looking good. Unfortunately, my phone was still in the living room at the time, so no pictures. The progress since we went up last week is impressive - we now have a fully boarded out floor, the eaves are boarded out, and there's insulation in between all the beams that won't have a brick wall behind them. There are wires hanging from the ceiling ready to be connected to lights, switches, power sockets and even a pair of aerial cables destined for connection to the satellite dish. I think there's a little bit of adjustment required so we can move one of the switches, and there's no network or telephone cables in yet.
The builders also pointed out how much they've "adjusted" the roof to get it to be straight. Over the years, the entire front section of the roof had sunk in the middle - as you look across the roof, you can see that our neighbour's roof is sagging in the centre, and that ours has been brought back to a level. The middle has had to be jacked up by about half an inch to bring the roof level!

We also had the first visit from the Building Inspector. Sounds like we are okay to continue - he asked where the ridge steel beam was, but it's not due just yet as there's no support for it on the outside wall.
